It's fast approaching Halloween and I am so excited to share with you my projects for the Out-of-the-Dark Blog Hop created and hosted by Joan of Moosetash Quilting. It's always so much fun to participate in this hop. I love seeing the creations of my fellow quilters and what delightfully fiendish projects they've created.
This year I started off with a banner. My only problem with this project was knowing when to stop. I made the banner out of colorful felt triangle pieces, approximately 9" x 12", and sewed on the face pieces, staggering the triangles up and down to fit next to each other nicely when placed together. All of them have button eyes to give them more color.
This was a quick and easy project to do, but who do I leave out? In the end, I made all of the Halloween icons we have come to love and expect at Halloween, and thought I could always delete a couple to make the banner shorter. I backed each triangle with another felt triangle, which I clipped to string the line, and separated each monsters with a trio of wooden balls between them.
Just some of the monsters in the line up are:

I love your banner! I think the ghost is my favorite. And your journal cover is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThat banner is just too darn cute. You made it really hard to pick a favortie. I was gifted hanging candles this year and these banner cuties would be perfect to hang up with them....next year's project is on the books now. LOL!!! The Ghastlies were absolutely the most fun things. I am miss them too.
ReplyDeleteOh I think my favorite would be Wolfie. He is adorable scary. Your whole banner is wonderful. I still have some scraps of Ghastlie friends and foes, but I do miss those lines being available.
ReplyDeleteThat banner is just the creepiest cute thing…I love it! I can’t pick a favorite one because they are all just amazing. Great job, Charlene! I love everything about Ghastlies too. Happy Halloween!
ReplyDeleteAmazing creations!
ReplyDeleteGreat banner with those fun faces! It's perfect on the fence. I think my favorite is the ghost.
ReplyDeleteSuper neat banner! I like all the characters you included--very hard to choose a favorite, since you did such a good job on all of them! The Ghastlies journal cover is very cool too!
ReplyDeleteSo spooky, I love your banner.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great banner with fun faces! Very cute!
ReplyDeleteOh, which is my favorite - I love them all. But...the ghost, the pumpkin, the witch, and Frankie are outstanding! Well, I might as well use them all because they are the cutest. I liked that you used wooden balls in between; so much more perfect than the usual ribbon and crystal balls I've used before. You are so creative. That Ghastlie fabric was amazing, too bad they no longer make it - it was the best and I love the book cover you made using scraps! bulltulip69atgmaildotcom
ReplyDeleteOh boy! Cuteness overload!! I cannot choose a favorite~ I need to go make a banner!! :-)
ReplyDeleteThose are very cute. I think the ghost is my favorite. Nice Ghastlie cover too.
ReplyDeleteYour banner is spooktackular! and I love the Ghasties. I have a few bits of that fabric left myself.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! My favorite face is the bat, of course. Happy Halloween!
ReplyDeleteLove that banner and what a fun greeting for the visitors on Halloween night, an old witch is my fave. Love the Ghastlies too and wonder why I never got any when I worked at the quilt store!
